In the Qingdao Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Qingdao FTZ), a new initiative has significantly boosted customs efficiency, injecting new vitality into the high-quality development of foreign trade in the region.

At the container terminal in Qingdao Qianwan Port Area, a batch of forklift scales imported by Qingdao Xinjiaji International Logistics Company was swiftly processed upon arrival. The container trucks carrying the cargo passed through fast inspection equipment without stopping, and within minutes, they were cleared for departure.

"Our cargo was notified for inspection immediately upon arrival. Before our trucks reached the gate, we received clearance notification. The whole process from arrival to clearance took only half an hour. This initiative has resolved a major challenge for us, especially considering the high container fees," said Song Tao, manager of Qingdao Xinjiaji International Logistics Company.

Previously, imported goods were required to undergo multiple handling processes for inspection after being unloaded at the port, leading to additional costs. Leveraging technology, Qingdao Customs has achieved seamless information exchange among customs, ports, and enterprises, implementing a comprehensive smart supervision platform to enhance inspection efficiency, reduce clearance times, and cut logistics costs.

Looking ahead, Qingdao FTZ will continue to deepen the coordination mechanism between the zone, customs, and ports, emphasizing innovation and technological empowerment. By solidifying smart customs development and innovating supervision models and business processes, the zone aims to further elevate customs clearance efficiency.
