Qingdao FTZ boosts economic growth with innovative spirit

In the first quarter, the Qingdao Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, known as Qingdao FTZ, has driven the development of business entities, marking a promising start to the year.

Data reveals that from January to March, Qingdao FTZ added 1,310 new enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 45.23 percent, and 970 new tax-paying entities. The overall activity of enterprises in the zone remains positive, with a notable aggregation effect of leading industries and continuous improvement in outward-oriented commerce.

Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao FTZ has stimulated market vitality through institutional innovation. National-level innovative pilot projects have been successively implemented in the zone, enhancing the efficiency of enterprise registration and achieving new breakthroughs in market access efficiency.

The zone has adopted a "one enterprise, one license, one code digital identity service system", deepening the intelligent application and service of electronic business licenses, and providing digital support for the registration and registration of business entities.

Among the new enterprises in the zone, the five major industries, including wholesale and retail, scientific research and technology, and leasing and business services, account for 88.17 percent of the zone's total.

Emerging industries such as genetic technology and integrated circuits are rapidly growing in the zone, with private enterprises like KingAgroot Group's green pesticide laboratory and Biomarker Technologies injecting new energy into the accelerated transformation of innovative achievements and high-quality development.

The proportion of high-tech industries among the new foreign-funded enterprises in the zone is steadily increasing, optimizing the industrial structure. The zone has attracted 49 German-funded enterprises, encompassing a wide range of industries such as high-end manufacturing, scientific research, and technical services. Currently, foreign-invested enterprises in the zone represent 90 countries and regions worldwide, including Switzerland, Egypt, and Samoa.
