To mark the 10th anniversary of their sister-city relationship, Jinan and Civitavecchia, Italy, have jointly established the Civitavecchia Sister City Garden in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, creating a new public space that celebrates cultural exchange and international friendship.

Covering 500 square meters, the garden is themed around water, reflecting both Jinan's renowned spring culture and Civitavecchia's long history as a port city. Through landscape design and architectural features, the project highlights the shared importance of water to the two cities' identities.

Several elements of the garden draw inspiration from Civitavecchia's historic landmarks. Stone structures and a central viewing platform echo the design of Fort Michelangelo, one of the Italian city's best-known monuments, while other landscape elements, such as a sandbox playground and a circular pool, reference the ancient Taurine Baths and the historic Port of Civitavecchia. Designers also adapted certain elements to local conditions to better integrate the garden into Jinan's natural environment.

In addition to showcasing the history and culture of the Italian port city, the garden offers recreational facilities, walking paths, and public gathering spaces for residents and visitors.
