The 2025 China-Japan Friendship Cities Table Tennis Tournament for Junior High School Students has just concluded in Beijing. Yantai was invited to team up with Beppu, a city in Japan, for the competition.

The event brought together 42 teams, comprising around 400 participants, from friendship cities across China and Japan. The Yantai-Beppu team, consisting of four players, excelled by finishing first in their group stage and ultimately won the Excellence Award.

Beppu, located in Oita prefecture, Japan, spans 125 square kilometers and has a population of 113,000. It is renowned for its hot springs.

Since establishing a sister city relationship in 1985, Yantai and Beppu have engaged in extensive exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy, culture, education, tourism, and environmental protection.
