Temple fair on Taishan Mountain celebrates traditions, adds festive vibe
The 2026 Taishan Mountain Dongyue Temple Fair began on April 29 at Daimiao Temple on Taishan Mountain. The fair brings together intangible cultural heritage, folk performances, gourmet food, creative products, calligraphy exhibitions, and interactive technology, giving visitors a cultural experience that integrates culture, business, and tourism.
Running until May 8, the fair covers two main areas. Daytime highlights include lively folk food markets, specialty products, a children's carnival, and a smart robot technology zone. As night arrives, shows take the stage: aerial intangible cultural heritage displays, an international fantasy circus, traditional Chinese dragon dances, and a fireworks display.
Inside Daimiao Temple, eight themed events take place, like shadow puppetry, opera performances, tea ceremonies, an intangible cultural heritage crafts workshop, and a calligraphy exhibition, highlighting the calligraphic cultural heritage of Taishan Mountain.
Over the years, the Taishan Mountain scenic area has focused on preserving and revitalizing the Dongyue Temple Fair culture. By enhancing its content and quality, the fair acts as a key spot for cultural exchange, promoting traditional heritage and improving Taishan Mountain's cultural appeal globally.
