Behind Zhang Xue Motorcycle's impressive debut at the World Superbike Championship is a lesser-known force from Ningyang, Tai'an — Shandong Zhenting Jinggong Piston Co Ltd. As a national-level "little giant" specializing in forged pistons, the company supplies essential components for Zhang Xue Motorcycle's mass-production models, helping China's homegrown motorcycles compete at the highest international level.

For years, China's high-end forged piston market was dominated by foreign players. Determined for a change, Zhenting invested 7 million yuan ($1 million) and spent three years refining core manufacturing techniques through numerous trials — eventually closing a critical technology gap.

The company now has an annual production capacity of over 70 million pistons and related components, capturing 75 percent of the domestic mainstream market. In addition to supplying Zhang Xue Motorcycle, it serves several well-known motorcycle and power machinery manufacturers, with its products exported to more than 20 countries and regions — bringing "Ningyang-made" pistons to the global market.

Seizing new opportunities, Zhenting has extended its precision manufacturing expertise into the low-altitude economy. Its lightweight, high-strength drone pistons — over 10 percent lighter than conventional models — have overcome another foreign technology barrier. These products are now in high demand, with orders booked through August this year.

In February, the company was recognized as a national-level green factory, affirming its commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Through ongoing innovation and green practices, the company is helping redefine "Shandong Made" as a mark of global quality and homegrown ingenuity.
