Vibrant Spring Festival holiday boosts tourism, economy in Tai'an
During the nine-day Spring Festival holiday in February, Tai'an experienced a remarkable surge in travel and consumption, presenting a dynamic picture of urban vitality.
Traffic figures highlighted the trend. At Tai'an Railway Station, over 8,000 passengers were dispatched on the first day of the Spring Festival alone — more than 3,000 more travelers than last year. With 81 trains running daily, including new routes to popular destinations like Xiamen and Weihai, connectivity reached new heights.
The influx of visitors led to a consumption boom. Over 11 major promotional events were organized across shopping complexes, township fairs, and scenic spots, maintaining the festive spending momentum.
The accommodation sector thrived as well. Shanshuijian, a popular homestay near Taishan Mountain, was fully occupied throughout the holiday. Its prime location, thoughtful service, and cozy atmosphere made it a home away from home for many travelers seeking both comfort and adventure.
"We've seen more self-driving tourists, with some coming from as far away as Heilongjiang," noted Yao Meng, owner of Shanshuijian. Extended stays of two to three days have become common as family trips dominate.
Official data showed the 11 monitored accommodations received 17,600 tourists from Feb 14 to 22, a 34.63 percent growth year-on-year, generating 8.44 million yuan ($1.23 million) in revenue, a 28.33 percent rise.
Taishan Mountain set a new record, receiving 481,000 visitors during the holiday — a 36.18 percent increase from last year. Across the city, 25 monitored scenic spots welcomed nearly 3.1 million visitors, up 19.18 percent.
