The eighth day of the fourth month in the Chinese calendar is the birthday of Buddha.

Buddhists celebrate by taking a bath in order to wash away any dirt on their bodies and cleanse themselves of all dirty thoughts. As a result, the day is also known as Buddha Bath Day.
