Qingdao kicks off marine bazaar season ahead of Spring Festival
The 2026 Qingdao "marine bazaar" season for this year's Spring Festival has been launched in Chengyang district, combining marine themes with festive celebrations to create a vibrant event mixing tradition and modernity.
This year's bazaar features over 650 stalls offering more than 1,500 products — from local specialties like Zhengzhuang cured meat and Majiagou celery to creative Year of the Horse-themed steamed buns.
Calligraphers write Spring Festival couplets and "fu" characters on-site, while intangible cultural heritage crafts attract visitors, blending folk culture with seasonal shopping.
Beyond traditional sales, the bazaar integrates culture, sports, and commerce into an immersive "shop, enjoy, play, dine" experience. More than 40 companies, including Hisense and Haier, are participating with special promotions.
Additional activities like traditional Chinese medicine consultations and interactive NPCs enrich the visitor experience, supported by online sales channels that extend the bazaar's reach nationwide.
Aligned with Qingdao's efforts to boost consumption, the event is one of 37 major holiday fairs across the city. It is backed by new consumer vouchers covering automobiles, dining, and shopping, reinforcing the city's strategy to stimulate spending through culturally rich, multi-format activities.
More than just a market, the Ocean Bazaar represents Qingdao's dynamic blend of tradition and modernity, turning seasonal festivity into sustained economic vitality.
