Qingdao continues to broaden its international reach, announcing that its network of sister cities and cooperative relationships now encompasses 94 cities in 53 countries. This expansion was highlighted at a press conference on July 11.

The city has strategically deepened ties with neighboring countries, boasting eight sister cities in South Korea and six in Japan.

Qingdao is leveraging its connections to foster economic partnerships by hosting trade and business matchmaking events during sister city visits. These initiatives have facilitated entry into international markets for key Qingdao businesses.

Furthermore, Qingdao has integrated sporting events, cultural exchange, and industry development. Notably, the city facilitated the establishment of the Badminton World Federation Qingdao International Exchange Center, the first non-governmental sports organization of its kind in China. Agreements for sailing exchanges have also been forged with cities like Brest, France, and Barcelona, Spain.

In addition, Qingdao is actively blending culture and tourism into its international outreach. By showcasing its unique ocean and beer culture, the city uses cultural and tourism promotion events to vividly present its abundant offerings, sharing its unique charm with the world.

International youth exchange is another priority. Qingdao actively organizes exchange programs and events such as the China-Japan-South Korea (Sister Cities) Youth Exchange Month, with football matches, art troupes, summer camps.
