Jining's culinary treasures make Shandong's iconic food list

Shandong recently announced its top 100 most iconic foods of 2025 on July 14, and seven local specialties from Jining made the cut. These include delicate and flavorful fish balls floating in soup (piaotang fish balls), succulent Weishan Lake crabs, hearty mutton soaked in congee, spicy carp, and savory meat with rice. The list also features plump Yutai lobsters and mouth-watering Yanzhou Sanhe village pig feet.

These dishes not only reflect Jining's unique geographical and cultural background but also demonstrate the region's commitment to preserving traditional cooking techniques. From the delicate craftsmanship of fish balls to the rich flavors of braised meats, Jining's cuisine is a testament to the city's rich culinary heritage.
