In full bloom this May, the sprawling rose fields at Shihuashe Rose Manor in Jiaxiang county, Jining, Shandong province, are drawing throngs of visitors eager to experience rural charm, enjoy flower picking, and sample fragrant rose-themed delicacies.

Amid the intoxicating aroma, workers are busy harvesting fresh roses, which will be processed into a range of specialties.

According to Wang Xingang, general manager of the manor, the facility has developed a diverse product system featuring traditional items such as rose jam, rose cakes, and rose tea, as well as wellness goods including rose essence and fermented rose enzyme drinks.

"May Day is our peak season. We receive over 1,000 visitors daily," Wang said. Visitors can tour the blooming fields, handpick roses, and sample rose-based delicacies, including rose-flavored pancakes in local farmhouse restaurants.

"The scent is amazing," said visitor Wang Jinfang. "I'm taking some home to make jam and rose-infused drinks."

With an annual output of around 50 metric tons of fresh roses, the manor has established a complete industrial chain covering planting, processing, sales, catering, and education. "Offline sales bring in about 30,000 yuan ($4164.37) a day, and each mu (0.07 hectare) can yield 6,000 yuan," Wang said.

The flourishing rose economy is boosting local income, optimizing the agricultural structure, and stimulating rural tourism. Moving forward, Jiaxiang aims to expand the "beautiful economy" by hosting rose festivals and offering immersive experiences such as jam-making and cultural displays — further integrating agriculture, culture, and tourism to strengthen rural vitalization.
