During the women's eight rowing final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which took place on July 30, the Chinese team, made up of eight rowers and a coxswain from Jining, East China's Shandong province, won the bronze medal.
Zhang Dechang, the 43-year-old coxswain who helped steer the boat and co-ordinate the eight rowers, is a veteran of the sport. At the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, in 2010, he won a gold medal in the men's eight as the coxswain.
