Zeno Reichenbecher, first secretary for economic affairs at the German embassy in China, led a delegation to the Qingdao Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, also known as the Qingdao FTZ, and the Sino-German Ecopark on Sept 19.
The delegation toured the passive house technology center, and the Haier central air conditioning interconnected factory. During a symposium, Zhang Yunqing, deputy director of the Sino-German Ecopark Administrative Committee, briefed the delegation on the zone and the ecopark, highlighting cooperation with Germany and ecological development efforts.
He expressed hope to strengthen communication and collaboration with the German embassy in China, fully leverage the ecopark's role as an open cooperation platform, and establish it as a new model for Sino-German cooperation and exchange.
Reichenbecher praised the park's achievements in ecological construction and stated that the German embassy in China would continue to serve as a bridge, actively promoting bilateral development and cooperation in areas such as cultural exchanges and economic collaboration.
The Sino-German Ecopark was established in July 2010 with the signing of an agreement witnessed by the premiers of both nations. It is China's first bilateral eco-cooperation demonstration park. By continuously fostering an international business environment, the Qingdao FTZ and the Sino-German Ecopark have attracted a cumulative total of 67 German companies (including those from German-speaking regions). It has been recognized by China's Ministry of Commerce and Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy as a "model of Sino-German cooperation".
